Vortex Generators in 3D Unsteady Flow

The method will be implemented into TNO's airfoil performance analysis and design tool RFOIL which is broadly used by the industry in the design of wind turbines. This new improved tool will allow the design of optimized airfoil sections with various thicknesses which will lead to the design of new innovative wind turbine blades where an increase in the overall wind turbine efficiency is obtained. The new version of RFOIL will have an overall positive impact on blade mass, CoE and AEP.
In the VoGUe project an innovative method is developed to include the effects of vortex generators in the design phase.
