Reduced Capex and Opex through increased fatigue service life and inspection intervals
Publieke samenvatting / Public summary
Background
The aim of the project is to develop a substantiated accurate model for fatigue crack growth that results in a reduced conservatism of both the fatigue life prediction and the inspection intervals compared to the current state of the art.
Short description of activities
The scope of this project covers the development of fundamental knowledge on the effect of retardation on the fatigue life of welded, thick walled, steel joints and on the foundations of the calculation of inspection intervals. The approach is to select a jacket and/or a monopile structure as a demonstrator in order to provide generic boundary conditions for the research.
