PRIMA-CD

Pathways for Remote Inspection & Asset Maintenance support by employing Cargo Drones.

Publieke samenvatting / Public summary

Aanleiding
Offshore wind farms are located further and further from shore and the service technicians and necessary spare parts today are usually transported by vessels. Technicians bring their tools and the components needed for the wind turbines, but if unforeseen spare parts are needed, the technicians/ logistics must go back onshore to get them which is costly and time consuming, thus delaying the repair process and increasing the downtime of wind turbines.

Doelstelling
The PRIMA-Cargo Drones focusses on the use of cargo drones for transferring tools and other spare parts to offshore wind turbines thus evaluating potential impact on workability, reduction in LCoE, environmental impact and increase of uptime of offshore windfarms.

Korte omschrijving
A study will be conducted by TNO, Ampelmann, and Vattenfall to evaluate the business case high-over and identify barriers towards commercial application of drones for logistics purpose. In addition, operational tests will be carried out by Ampelmann in onshore and offshore wind farm environment to evaluate the drone operational capabilities for maintenance operations.
