LIMANIL

Limanil: Light management by nanotexturisation using NIL

Publieke samenvatting / Public summary

Doelstelling
The project LIMANIL aims at the development and implementation into pilot production of novel techniques for improved light management in thin film solar cells.

Korte omschrijving
For further cost reduction, thinner absorber layers are required. In order to harvest all the light in very thin absorber layers, new methods for light trapping need to be developed and implemented. Nano Imprint Lithography is an important enabling technology for these purposes and will be a key R&D tool in this project. We will use NIL for fabrication of light scattering textures both on the front side and on the rear side of thin film solar cells and demonstrate its applicability for thin film silicon, CIGS and polymer based solar cells. But also new concepts for improved light management will be investigated and developed and these new concepts are merely focused on introduction of intermediate reflectors (IR), photonic crystals (PC) and plasmonic nanoparticles in the thin film solar cells.
