EFFILOAT

EFFILOAT: Efficient From Fabrication to Installation of Large Offshore Assembled Turbines

Publieke samenvatting / Public summary

Aanleiding
To meet ambitious offshore wind energy goals, the construction of wind parks must accelerate, with larger turbines (up to 20MW) and heavier components (monopiles up to 3,500 tons) expected by 2030. These challenges impact the offshore wind supply chain, especially at marshalling yards where logistical complexities arise due to the size and weight of components. Solutions include innovation in handling tools, standardization of support structures, and industrialized processes to improve efficiency. A collaborative, step-by-step approach aims to optimize transport, storage, and installation, reducing costs and increasing installation speeds.

Doelstelling
The project's objective is to speed up the building of offshore wind-energy parks by introducing a system innovation within the marshalling and installation of large future offshore wind foundation and turbines, aiming at reaching efficiencies in terms of time, space and costs. By a holistic approach on the transport and installation of wind turbines and their foundations, we can take all steps into account which generate new handling and installation methods that not only fit the purpose of producing energy against lower costs, but also optimises the supply chain and logistics to ensure timely (ASAP) operations of offshore Wind Turbine Generators (preventing delays). By bringing marshalling and wind-foundation installation solutions to a new and cost-efficient level, the EFFILOAT project is providing solutions to efficiently increase and speed up logistics within the (offshore) wind supply chain that will lead to affordable and safe operations of sustainable energy production.

Korte omschrijving
The EFFILOAT project targets the MOOI-mission 1, electricity. This mission is dedicated to tackle the greatest challenges of upscaling offshore wind energy, which contributes to an efficient and allembracing logistic offshore energy system. The EFFILOAT project specifically tackles the first innovation theme of the MOOI-electricity-mission: Innovations that accelerate the deployment of wind energy at sea and remove obstacles. Within this theme the EFFILOAT project is based on subthemes: 2. Acceleration of the construction of offshore wind parks and 4. Circularity of components and raw materials.

Resultaat
The project is structured along 3 project results: Result 1: System Innovation for reduction of supply chain process bottlenecks Result 2: Foundation related transport and installation concepts. Result 3: WTG Assembly related transport and installation concepts.
