Doelstelling
The Metacurtain-1 project aims to develop a new noise reduction system for high levels of low-frequency noise caused by driving monopiles during installation of wind turbines at sea.

Some preparatory implementation aspects will be addressed to arrive at a large-scale design. The overall design takes into account the installation and operational conditions. Benchmark tests will be conducted to verify the efficiency of the new system against other commercially available noise mitigation systems.
Resultaat
The proposed noise mitigation system will consist of a new curtain design to prevent the propagation of low-frequency sound waves caused by the vibrations of the monopile. The flexibility of the design allows rapid deployment and minimises the risk of damage during contact with the monopile.
