Cokes Oven Gas Clean up

Publieke samenvatting / Public summary

Aanleiding
Coke is a vital reduction agent in the steel making process. Coke is presently produced from coal. Hydrogen rich gas is produced during this process. This gas is presently cleaned up to be used as a fuel, in compliance with environmental regulations. New, chemical application of the hydrogen does require a higher degree of purity. The combinations of impurities pose a problem to known technology targeting individual components and require a study to derive a route that addresses the mix.

Doelstelling
The anticipated results are a technical route that will reach the required quality of the gas stream as well a insights into the economical feasibility of any route.

Korte omschrijving
This activity does not include active lab or pilot testing. It is a desk study (including modelling). The scope is restricted to this gas source and does not include other gas sources present in the steel industry nor in other industrial installations such as bio based gassifiers.
