BIOTECS

BIOTECS

Publieke samenvatting / Public summary

Aanleiding
The motivation to write this project plan is the awareness that the coating material that has been developed by Bionic Technology, and which has been successfully introduced in non-PV markets, also has a very large potential as encapsulant for light-weight and flexible PV modules.

Doelstelling
The aim of the project is to investigate the potential of the BioCoat material, developed by Bionic Technologies, as encapsulation material for PV modules. We expect that this material is better than conventional materials like glass and ETFE in terms of costs, weight and added functionality. The project also meets the aim of iDEEGO to involve new Dutch companies into the worldwide production of PV devices and systems.

Korte omschrijving
The activities will involve application of BioCoat material as encapsulant on small thin film PV modules (thin film silicon and CIGS) by ECN, imprinting experiments on these coatings to achieve reduced reflection, and degradation studies of these mini-modules. Bionic Technologies will improve the formulation of the Biocoat material to meet the various criteria for encapsulation of PV modules and for imprinting.

Resultaat
The project should result in an assessment of BioCoat as a new encapsulant material for thin film PV modules, aiming at lower costs and more functionality than the conventional encapsulation materials.
